System Administrator - Linux (Boston)
We are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure team, to be based in Boston, MA, however we will consider candidates to work from our London UK office. This is a hands-on role combining Linux systems administration, network management and database administration. You will be working in an agile environment, collaborating with Development and other Systems Administrators to enhance, support and maintain the systems which run our SAS applications (TIM Ideas and TIM Funds). This will require a combination of research and development of new secure systems, upgrade of current Linux systems, networks, associated hardware and software, and maintenance / support activities.
This role will make the most of your solid knowledge and experience across the full stack of data centre and application technologies including: Linux (Ubuntu), Apache, MySQL, MongoDB, Postfix, iptables, IPVS load balancing, VRRP, collectd, keepalived, conntrackd, hardware (particularly HP), scripting, Nagios, Graphite, KVM/LXC virtualisation, JMX, and IP networking (layer 2/3 switching/routing, policy based routing, etc). Our daily toolkit includes Ruby, Puppet, MCollective, git, and Jenkins.
This is not a position for pointy-clicky system administrators. You must be willing to pickup and learn anything as needed to get the job done. This is a small team and your ability to flexibly collaborate, to sometimes lead and sometimes follow, will be appreciated. You are likely to spend time as a member of one of our product development teams: attending feature planning sessions, brining requirements back to the Infrastructure team, participating in root-cause analysis and iteration retrospectives.
